Deputy’s Last Day Out

This photo was taken at the final formal occasion when Ill Kt Neil Webster, PG StB (L), Deputy Intendant General, visited the Derbyshire Division for their annual Divisional meeting. The new Intendant General designate, V Ill Kt Graham Wanless, PGH Almoner, will be appointed and Invested at the annual Divisional Meeting on Saturday, 14th December 2019.

Cheque for Zoe’s Place 2019

We were delighted to once again be in a position to present a cheque for £2,500 to Zoe’s Place in Middlesbrough on 11th November. As you are probably aware by now this is one of three independently run hospices for babies and children under school age all going by the name Zoe’s Place.

The original is in Liverpool and the newest is in Coventry.

They are desperate for money as they tell us that it costs £29 per child per hour to run and at present they are having to close two nights a week due to the lack of funding.

It really is a fantastic place where the warmth and care the staff give to the children and all members of the families who attend there is there for all to see.

Combined Church Service 2020

MARK JOINT CHURCH SERVICE WITH  RED CROSS OF CONSTANTINE

St John The Evangelist Church, Church Lane, Welburn, YORK,  YO60 7EG.

The service to which all members of the two orders are encouraged to attend will commence at 3pm prompt on Sunday 19th April 2020.( Please arrive early to facilitate parking and seating) The doors will be open by 2pm.

The service will be followed by an excellent and bountiful afternoon tea, provided by the ladies of the church, in the adjacent Village Hall.

Please remember this is all open to your families (all generations), your friends and of course your masonic friends/prospective members.

Some of the very hungry enjoy a luncheon prior to the service, details of which will be provided separately by the organiser.

Combined Church Service 2019

Combined Church Service 28th April 2019

  1. The Combined Lunch, organised by David Jennings, is limited to approximately 65 diners and will be on a first come first served basis.  There are options for a 2 or 3 course meal; coffee is not included but can be taken in the bar and paid for separately.  The meal will commence promptly at 12:15 at The Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 7EG and there will be a private room for dining.
  2. Lunch will be followed by the Combined Mark & Red Cross of Constantine Annual Church Service at Welburn starting at 15:00 (no limitation for numbers) then followed by afternoon tea.

Any further information or changes will be displayed as soon as details become known.

Support for MNDA (Cleveland)

Roger de Mowbray Conclave 335
At the December meeting of the Roger de Mowbray Conclave held in the Golden Fleece at Thirsk, it was proposed and agreed to donate a sum of £200 to a local charity.  The charity selected was the Cleveland Group of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.  On Wednesday 15th February 2017, the M Puissant Sovereign, Stan Thompson, presented the cheque to Luke Rutter, the treasurer of the Cleveland group of the MNDA.

Donation to Yorkshire Cadets

The Yorkshire Cadet Trust (YCT) received a welcome donation from the North & East Yorkshire Division of the Red Cross of Constantine when the Intendant General, R Ill Kt David John Roach, attended a ceremony to present a cheque  for £1000.00 to Colonel Jason Wright, Chief Executive RFCA Yorkshire and The Humber, at the RFCA headquarters in York on Friday 13th January 2017. The Intendant General was supported by the Deputy Intendant General, Ill Kt Neil Webster, the Divisional Recorder Ill Kt Graham Wanless  & P Kt Trevor Evans, Past Sovereign of Hoveden Conclave No 415. It was Trevor, a former Combined Cadet Force Contingent Commander, who suggested that the YCT should be nominated as a recipient for a financial award. 

At the presentation of the cheque the Intendant General said “In 2015 we celebrated 150 years of our Constitution and held nationwide celebrations. Being a Christian order we held a service at Lincoln Cathedral at which Red Cross Masons from across the world attended. During that year over £40,000 was raised on behalf of the ‘Grand Sovereign’s Fund for Children’.  This fund was created in the late 1990’s and was to be used primarily to assist children’s hospices.  However, other worthy children’s charities are supported“ 

The Yorkshire Cadet Trust is a charity established to provide support for cadets across Yorkshire and The Humber.  Mainly the cadets are aged between 13 – 17 but there are parts of the organisation for younger members  from 8 years old.

Speaking about the charity the trustee secretary Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Bleasdale said “The Yorkshire Cadet Trust is a registered charity established to provide support for cadets within Yorkshire and The Humber.  Without the Trust, many cadets could never experience the enjoyment and satisfaction that taking part in these pursuits bring”.

“We are delighted that the Red Cross of Constantine has made this generous donation.  Over the years we have enabled disadvantaged cadets to attend Annual Camp and provided financial support for cadets to participate in overseas expeditions to Canada, Nepal and more recently South Africa.”
